Today we’re going to talk statistics – stay with me here 😊
Did you know that the average Australian household owns 1.8 cars?
And did you know that the average age of a car in Australia is 10.1years? And that statistic hasn’t changed since 2015?
That means there are a lot of cars on the road without many of the ‘stock standard’ upgrades, most new cars automatically have, or, if they have an inbuilt upgrade, its technology is likely outdated, or the unit/application is worn and possibly not performing at an optimum level.
At Reverse Safe, as experts and industry leaders, we can review your vehicle, and recommend options, upgrades, and changes that will improve the safety of your car and the enjoyment of driving. There are many improvements we can discuss and offer, however, today, we’re going to talk about safety.
At a minimum, aside from ensuring your vehicle is serviced regularly, and driven with care, every car on the road should have at least front and rear sensors. And while many cars over 9 years of age are fitted with censors, the technology employed a decade ago is simply not the same as that which is offered today. Just look at a smartphone for 2012 and one today – they are both smartphones but are clearly not the same.
We use our cars for so many things and reasons, but the most important is to transport our loved ones. Having front and rear parking sensors is the least you can do to protect your vehicle (prevention is always a preferred option), and your family.
How can front and rear parking sensors help you and your family?
OK, more statistics 😉
A 2018 Monash University accident research study found that vehicles fitted with rear parking sensors were 31% less likely to be involved in a ‘backover crash.
“70% of backover crashes happen when people are parking or reversing from a driveway and it’s fantastic to see these technologies are making a difference” – MUARC Deputy Director Associate Professor Stuart Newstead 2018.
Best of all, this technology is relatively inexpensive and available to most non-factory fitted vehicles.
- Front Sensors: prevent parking scrapes & bumps and help the Driver to detect obstacles (raised curb/child’s scooter etc.) that may be out of the driver’s site of vision, from the front.
- Rear Sensors: prevent parking scrapes & bumps and help the Driver to detect obstacles (shopping trolleys etc.) that may be out of the driver’s site of vision and have been shown to reduce reversing accidents by 15% or more.
